A grand function was arranged by producers T Siva of Amma Creations and Sona to mark the music launch of their joint venture ‘Kanimozhi’ at Kalaignar Arangam in Anna Arivalayam Thursday evening.

The first copy of the film’s audio CD was released by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the function attended by Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, Vijay, Ministers and other big guns.

In his address, Karunanidhi said that he would soon lay the foundation stone to construct houses for members of the film fraternity. “Land has been allotted for the purpose and a launch function will be held soon,” he said amidst thunderous applause.

“We always do what we have assured. As per my promise, those working in the film industry and their family members will soon get new houses at the colony to be set up near Chennai. It’s my duty to fulfill it,” he said.

Rama Narayanan thanked the Chief Minister for his ‘gifts’ to the industry including waiving of tax to films which have Tamil titles. “Thanks to the Chief Minister, movies with pure Tamil names have become the order of the day,” he said.

Vijay, in his address, wished Karunanidhi a healthy and long life. “The society in general and the industry in particular needs his service,” the actor said. Jai, Sona, Siva, director of the film Sripathi Rangasamy, music composer Satheesh Chakravarthy and others took part.
